OPENING: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2021 from 1-6 PM
GALLERY HOURS: Thursday to Saturday 1-6 pm and by appointment
In an effort to get out of the house at the beginning of the pandemic, Lisa Congdon and her wife began exploring the Oregon Coast two hours from their home in Portland, Oregon. On each trip, they became smitten with what’s known as Oregon’s “North Coast,” which spans the area between Pacific City in the south to Astoria in the north. In December 2020, Congdon and her wife eventually purchased a home in Manzanita, Oregon, half a block from the ocean, where they now live part time. Congdon has spent countless hours over the past year cycling through the rugged coastlines, vast beaches, historic communities dotted with “barn quilts”, pastoral agricultural land, dark forests, collecting inspiration and falling even more deeply in love with this area she now calls home. North Coast is an exploration of Congdon’s love for Oregon’s coastal flora, fauna, color, and heritage.
Lisa Congdon is an internationally known fine artist, illustrator and writer. She makes art for clients around the globe, including Target, Method, Comme des Garcons, Crate & Barrel, REI and MoMA, among many others. She is the author of ten books, including Art Inc: The Essential Guide to Building Your Career as an Artist and Find your Artistic Voice: The Essential Guide to Working Your Creative Magic. She is the host of the podcast The Lisa Congdon Sessions and she teaches Creative Entrepreneurship at Pacific Northwest College of Art. Lisa is self-taught and didn’t achieve momentum in her career until she was nearly 40 years old. Despite her untraditional path, nearly 15 years later, Lisa has achieved recognition, not just as an artist, but as a leader in the industry for her work in fundraising, knowledge sharing, mentoring and teaching. In March of 2021, she was named One of the 50 Most Inspiring People and Companies According to Industry Creatives published in AdWeek. She lives and works in Portland, Oregon and this is her third solo show at Stephanie Chefas Projects.
Opening Day for North Coast: New Works by Lisa Congdon will be held at Stephanie Chefas Projects on Saturday, October 9th from 1-6pm.
